Piping Engineer Job Description

우리팀은 Mechanical 과 Piping 이 같이 있다.

플랜트에서  Piping은 꽤 중요하고 업무량도 많은 영역이라 따로 두기도 하는데 우리는 묶여 있다.

Mechanical 기기와 piping을 모두 다 다뤄야한다는 의미이다.

 

이 Piping도 Process 와 연동되는 전체 layout을 잡아주는 업무와 각 단위 공정, 기기들을 실제 연결하는 업무 등으로 세분화되는데 어떤걸 요구하는지 살펴보자.

기본 Overview는 동일하다 (같은 팀에서 나오는 거니까).

 

Responsibility는

• Performs intermediate calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer. Solves problems using well established scientific principles.
• Conducts routine technical assignments with some oversight from experienced personnel.
• Develops small to mid-size project or proposals.
• Works with designers to develop engineering and design documents as needed for the project.
• Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis.
• Recognizes, troubleshoots and resolves design constraints and issues. Applies economic analysis to determine best cost solutions.
• Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization.
• Seeks feedback and uses it effectively.
• Has good understanding of the complete design and has good input into ways of improving the design and lowering costs with little to no supervision.
• Questions accepted ways of doing things and actively seeks opportunities to try new ideas.
• Utilize codes and standards to complete assignments.
• Identifies changes in the scope of work during a small project and produces design changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
• Recognizes the importance of customer needs.

회사마다 다르게 나올텐데 이것만 보면 좀 general 하다.

 

Qualification은

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering minimum required.
• 4-10 years' minimum relevant experience in refining and petrochemical industry.
• Receives little to no instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignment from more experienced engineer. Receives guidance on high risk or advanced conditions.
• Can provides guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
• Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations. Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
• Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
• Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
• Serves as point of contact for external or internal customers.
• Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.
• Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines.
• Able to specify actions to take when standards or contract requirements are not met.

 

기본적으로 Mechanical engineering 백그라운드가 있어야한다.

Entry나 New Grad.로 나오는게 아니라면 경력은 각 포지션에서 요구하는게 다르다.

이제 졸업하거나 졸업 예정이면 New Graduation (한국으로 보자면 신입), 1 - 3 년 정도면 Entry level,  4 - 7년 정도면 Mid-level, 7+ 면 Senior level로 본다.

우리회사는 Engineer 1, 2, 3, 4, Senior, Principle 로 나뉘어 있다 (직급같은거라 보면 된다).

Engineer 1 부터 4까지는 그냥 Engineer이고 (내부적으로 구분하는 것), Senior와 Principle은 타이틀이 붙는다.

굳이 직급으로 얘기한다면 Engineer - Senior Engineer - Principle Engineer 가 된다.
