아이들이 학교에 다니면서 이것 저것 나도 배워지는게 많다.
매일 아침 수업 시작 전에 미국 국기와 텍사스 주기를 보고 국기에 대한 맹세를 한다고 한다.
처음 들어본게 큰아이 고등학교 OT때.
국가 합창을 하고 나서 하는데 대체 뭔 말인가 궁금했었다.
그래서 찾아봤다.
미국 국기인 Stars and Stripes (The Star-Spangle Bannder) 대해서는
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

텍사스 주기인 Lone Star Flag에 대해서는

이 두가지는 공식 행사 때 국가와 더불어 하는 필수 아이템이다.
계속하다보면 외워질 것 같긴한데 접할일이 별로 없는 어른들에게는 익숙해져야할 것들 중 하나이다.
